To carry on our love of all things poetry and to keep the energy high, I will continue to post poems by the contributing poets to the anthology until the Colorado Book Awards on May 21, 2017 (info by clicking here).

Today’s poem is by contributing poet: Eleanore Trupkiewicz

Emptiness
headline reads
toddler dead
from alligator attack
headline reads
another sixty or so
bleeding out
across a burnished hardwood floor
at a night club
in Orlando
rainbow pride slicked
red and sad
headline reads
baby abandoned in a dumpster
across town
the railroad tracks
the river
headline reads
explosion in Jerusalem kills
four
once people
now names on death certificates
etched deep on silver tombstones
ankle-deep in cool grass
headline reads
one
and one
another
one more
again
headline reads
let there be peace on earth
and begin with me.
