A2Z-BADGE-100 [2017]                  X

Greetings and welcome to Poets on Display during National Poetry Month/Blogging From A to Z April Challenge. I’m doing a poetry theme, so each day this month I feature poets from the book Sunrise Summits: A Poetry Anthology, which was recently selected as a finalist for the 2017 Colorado Book Awards in the anthology category (information about the awards can be found by Clicking Here).

It’s an honor for me to continue to share the work of those who contributed to Northern Colorado Writers first poetry anthology and to have this work selected as an award finalist. The poets included are a shining example of the talent found in Northern Colorado Writers, LLC.

The poem posted below is not from the anthology. This way you get a wider read of each poet’s work. It’s been a challenge to get the poems to fit the letter theme, but I think I’ve worked it out. I  hope you enjoy what you read here.

Today’s Poem:  Hope by Summer Robidoux

Death and drama, hate and war.
Theft and rape, beatings and brutality,
For nothing with meaning,
All void of reasoning.
Without a glimmer of remorse,
Senseless crimes and racketeering,
Our children suffer a future of profiteering.
Lucid morals and excuses galore,
Relativism and idolism run amuck.
While depression and suppression,
Aggression and addiction
Act as a diversion.

When are we going to say, “enough!”

Step up.
Be resilient my brothers,
Don’t waiver my sisters;
There is hope.
Eternity is long and He is sturdy.
Draw your line,
Build your wall,
Love unconditionally,

But stand in your faith strong!

Be a light in the darkness,
Shine bright and true,
He’s always with you,
Standing by your side,
Yet leading the way,
Even if you don’t comprehend,
Walk the path with conviction,

And trust in His plan.

Above the aversion, and beyond the despair,
He offers hope when obstacles are there.
Triumphant, His love conquers death.
His love conquers fear.

And if you’ll accept it, His love lives everywhere.
