Oh so much joy in the season as the first Wednesday of March has arrived! Thanks to Alex Cavanaugh for breathing life supporting air into our writing balloons. Now, only if our voices didn’t sound so funny when we suck that air out! Be sure to visit this month’s co-hosts (listed below) and spread your wordy-love freely.
To start off, I’ll jump on the question of the month: Have you ever pulled out a really old story and reworked it? Did it work out? I am deeply into the very adventure. It’s been two years since I looked at my first draft of my first attempt at a novel. The original idea took root six years ago and I’m not further than that original (but completed) first draft. I’m working the sludge through a critique group and they have been fabulous. The feedback is reshaping the story to an acceptable outline/form and I’m excited to continue the effort through to completion. Then, draft two will begin!
Now, it’s time to scrub up your flash fiction skills and get a submission in to Jason Brick right away. In July 2015 Jason published “Baby Shoes: 100 stories by 100 Authors” (found HERE). Yes, I’m in it (under a pen name). Two days ago I found out my latest flash piece has been accepted for “FLASH!”, volume two of the anthology. To finish the anthology with 100 different authors, Jason still needs almost 30 stories. Check out the details HERE.
Do it now! Okay visit our ISWG friends first, but then do it. Get 1000 words together like only you can and see what happens! YOU. CAN. DO. IT.
