Monteserrat (mountain), located less than one hour’s drive from Barcelona is home to the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat. Home of a purported sighting of the “Black Madonna,” this 1000 year old monastery is an amazing place, built in an even more amazing location. To tour the church and local grounds, knowing that it has been there over 1o centuries, is difficult to grasp. Montesrrat is one of the most awe inspiring places I have visited.

The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco is the largest mosque in the country and the seventh largest in the whole. The minaret, at 210 feet high, is the tallest in the world. It holds 25,000 worshipers inside and accommodates another 80,000 in the outside grounds. A place of incredible detail (and a retracting roof) the facility was completed in 1993 and a portion overlies the Atlantic Ocean, visible through the glass flooring.

Can you catch a wave by the mosque? Looks like it!
