Just like the clip above, our winter skipped Spring and we’ve moved right on into summer. Which means a change in the fly box. Here are 10 flies you’ll find in my box all summer long, no matter where I’m fishing.

copper1) Copper John: Certainly a standard just about anywhere. I’ll carry a variety of colors and sizes, sometime fishing this below #3 and above #6.

chute2) Parachute Adams: Another industry standard that remains effective for me.

stimy3) Stimulator
A favorite dry/dropper rig. Often I suspend a copper john and a santa ant below.

bead4) Beadhead Flashback Pheasant Tail
Just a trusty bug I fish with confidence.

5) Chernobyl Ant: Marty Staab of Elkhorn Fly Rod and Reel put this intriguing bug together from a chewed up pattern I brought in a couple of years ago.

6) Santa Ant: Another of Marty’s special flies he ties for Elkhorn.
Wet or dry, always a good producer of strikes.

worm7) San Juan Worm
When I’m looking for a change of pace to shake things up.

blue8) Tungsten Blue Poison
Year ’round fish pleaser. I’m never without these in my box.

sparkle9) Sparkle RS2
Small and sparkly…great behind a dry in the surface film.

10) Variety of Hopper Patterns-
Always a hoppin’ good time with these guys!
